Yanchep Rose is a native of Western Australia that is both frost and drought tolerant.
The species was first formally described by the botanist William Jackson Hooker in the work Botanical Magazine published in 1843.
The shrub has an erect to compact to spreading habit and typically grows to a height of 1.5 metres with a spread of 1 metre.
It is often found on sand dunes, limestone hills and rocky ridges growing in sandy soils.
Winter flowering and usually blooms between June and October.
Requiring a well drained position with sun to semi shade, and preferring a climate that does not experience humid conditions as this encourages fungal disease.
Mulch around plants to maintain some moisture and a cool root run and use a low phosphorous slow release type fertiliser formulated for native plants.
Tip pruning from an early stage will encourage good bushy growth.
