Pumpkin Waltham Butternut is a prized heirloom that sets the standard by which other pumpkins are judged. First bred in the 1960’s they are reliable, productive and a long-keeper.
A classically shaped pumpkin with a smaller seed cavity and thicker & straighter necks resulting in more useable pumpkin. Sweet and delicious, it is also packed with tons of beneficial vitamins and nutrients.
These wonderful vegetables, with solid orange flesh can be roasted in the oven or cooked like a potato. The fine, smooth texture of the flesh makes it ideal for soups and purees, for the filling in ravioli or for stirring into risotto.
They are sublime when simply brushed with olive oil and roasted in the oven or cut into chunks and barbequed on a skewer to yield an intense, concentrated flavour.
Simple to grow and maintain in a sunny spot with fertile, well-drained soil, they can be stored for months. If you grow only one pumpkin, grow butternut. This one is a must for both the novice and expert vegetable gardener!
