What would spring garden be complete without a bed of delightful, sweet-scented Wallflowers, harbingers of warmer weather to come? Very easy to grow and very rewarding; responding beautifully to the sow and forget technique. Bare patches are sown with the absolute minimum of fuss in mid-August, flowering the following April and supplying an abundance of cut flowers for many weeks after.
The open, sweetly scented flowers provide bright autumn colour when little else is flowering. Coming in a mix of orange, yellow and red, they are ideal for borders and edging. They can also grown in large containers and of course, against walls.
