Description
Turnip Golden Globe is an heirloom pale yellow skinned turnip with uniform round golden roots with tender creamy-yellow flesh. Juicy, sweet and an excellent keeper, they are much sweeter than regular turnips with an excellent flavour.
Can be harvested as a mini-veg when no larger than a tennis ball after about 7 to 8 weeks otherwise the roots are ready 10 to 12 weeks after sowing.
Will yield a good supply from early summer to early winter. They can also be grown in wide containers at least 20cm (8in) deep.
As a bonus, the leaves are tender, slightly spicy, ultra-nutritious, and can be prepared like any cooking green. For the best flavour cut when 10 to 15cm high and leave to resprout.
