Onion Amposta Purple is a large sweet onion named after the small Spanish town of Amposta. A heritage variety that produces attractive red-purple onions, that are recognised for their pleasant taste and exceptional sweetness.
Will reliably grow in a wide variety of conditions and produces a vigorous plant with long, large stem. The onions weigh around 200 to 250 grams.
An intermediate-day variety needing 12–14 hours of daylight per day. Sow this variety in the late Autumn in temperate areas. Amposta Purple is an excellent storage onion, it has fairly compact, dense flesh and will effortlessly store for over 6 months.
