Wild Pansy Heartsease is a garden favourite with dainty flat-faced flowers that are a cheerful sight in the early spring. Nicknamed Johnny Jump Up due to its ease of self propagation. If flowering declines with the onset of hot summer weather, cut back plants to promote an autumn rebloom.
The dainty flowers make an attractive, edible garnish on salads and sweets dishes. The leaves and flowers were traditionally used for strengthening the heart and nerves, and to stimulate the metabolism.
